A Beautiful Life Remembered
Althia Darlene Gaines was born to Congress Gerald Money and Matilda Wakefield on Friday November 15, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri.
She graduated from East St. Louis High School and went on to complete her associate degree. She proudly served her country as a United States Marine.
Althia will be remembered as a kind hearted person who was concerned with others. She was an amazing wife to JD and took great care of him throughout their marriage. She loved animals and children. She her ability to show love was evident in her relationship with her grandbabies, they had a special bond. As kind as Althia was she would quickly speak her mind. Her wisdom made her a confidant to those around her. We are going to miss her quit wit. She was known in the family not to take photos, “I am in the witness protection program” was her readied reply.
She is preceded in death by both parents Congress and Matilda, son in law Malachi DeWalt, brother in law Raymond Harper, and grandson Malachi Leon DeWalt.
Althia love and memories will remain in the hearts of her husband JD Gaines, children Ja-Angel DeWalt and Jessica and Dustan Lawrence, Grandchildren Diavione DeWalt, Michael Lawrence, Sanaa Lawrence, McKenzie Lawrence, Jayden Lawrence, and Jasiah DeWalt. Sisters Bessie Weathersby and Carol Harper and a host of other relatives and friends.
