Barbara Ann Heard

Barbara Ann Heard was born on April 2, 1945 in Shreveport, LA. She was the first of six children born to Ernest Savare Sr. and Bernice Barnes. Her mother Bernice would later go on to have another child, making her the eldest of seven. Barbara moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1948. She was educated in the Tacoma Public School System and obtained her Associate’s Degree in Mental Health from Fort Steilacoom Community College. She peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the age of 73. As soon as people met Barbara, they knew she was special. She was a remarkable woman with a beautiful smile on display for all to admire. With her tireless energy, nothing ever seemed to slow her down. Barbara was nurturing, kind and would do whatever she could to help others. I know she would say that her greatest legacy would be her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed cooking, music, hosting, telling jokes and watching the ID channel… ALL DAY!
She preceded in death by her parents Ernest Savare Sr., Bernice Barnes and her youngest sister Karen Savare. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory; two loving children, Michael Heard and Debra Simmon; one stepson, Romel Murphy of Chicago, ILL; three grandchildren, Selina Simmon, Sherese Ladd and Saudia James-Heard; three great grandchildren, Lauren Ladd, Kyrie Ladd and Khalil Ladd; three sisters, her twin Margaret Easter, Robbie Martin and Marie Ragland; two brothers, Ernest Savare Jr. and James Barnes; sister-in-law Deborah Savare and many nieces, nephews and special friends and loved ones. Two very special women she called her daughters, Cozella Flannigan and Stephanie James.
