Carolyn Johnson born to Jimmy Mae and Jesse Johnson December 25th 1961 was one of the most beautiful people to grace the earth. She had a heart of gold and was the epitome of love. She was so special that her birth made the newspaper. She was the first child to be born on Christmas day at the University of Washington Hospital. Carolyn bore eight children Marqueshia, Larue, Jesse, Samuel, Salika, Keondre, Deondre, and Brandi. Her children meant the world to her. She was a lioness who always protected her cubs.
She loved hard and had a big heart. But she was also very sassy! She had no problem addressing an issue and telling a person it like it was. A few of her sayings were, (“How you gone tell me”) (“For the simple fact”) (“You must not believe fat means greasy.”) She was strong! Powerful! It seemed like she was unbreakable. She was an excellent cook and made the meanest pot of beans on the planet!
Motherhood for Carolyn did not stop with her biological children. Her mom Jimmy Mae passed away at the age of thirty-eight. Carolyn stepped in to help raise her little brothers Eric, Michael, and Tyrone. She also adopted a young Korean girl by the name of Amy Elliott and raised her. She then went on to raise Amy’s daughter Savasia Lewis. Nathanial Grayson came to visit at the age of thirteen and never left. She took him in and raised him like one of her own. She provided childcare for her kids, and helped to raise her grandchildren. Her door was always open. She never looked down on people because of their circumstances. She just embraced them and provided a place of security. She was forgiving. She always gave second chances.
Her favorite genre of music was (“oldies but goodies.”) as she called it. A few of her favorite artist were Aretha Franklin, Teddy Pendergrass, The Isley Brothers, Maze & Franky Beverly, Earth Wind & Fire, & finally Gerald LeVert! She was in love with him! She would say (“that man can sang your drawls off.”)
Her favorite foods were fried fish, collard greens, potato salad, pineapple upside down cake, strawberries, watermelon, and blueberries. She loved watching the young and the restless, and old westerns. She adored her grandchildren. She would often say “I love my kids, but there’s just something about my grandbabies I can’t explain.” Carolyn was so special there aren’t enough words that can be written to express her greatness. She is truly missed and will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind to carry on her legacy Daughters: Marqueshia, Salika, and Brandi Sons: LaRue, Jesse, Samuel, Keondre, and Deondre Granddaughters: Akaiah, Demaryai, Nyaijah, Honesty, Alani, Kiana, Arrieya, Savasia, and Zanayah Grandsons: Michael, Devonsei, Tyivion, Nasir, Jesse Jr, and Jordan Great Granddaughters: Audriana, Aubrey, and Raiyn Brothers: Lonnie, Michael, & Tyrone Sisters: Synthina, & Fannie, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
