Eulogy for Frankie Dean Carroll

June 16, 2023

Frankie Dean Carroll was born in the morning hours of Saturday, September 28, Nineteen Hundred Fifty Seven. Parents Juanita Ann Carroll (maiden name Roehr), and Frank Dean Carroll. He was the first of five children born to Ms. Carroll. Delivered at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage Alaska.

After the family relocated to Western Washington in 1965, Frank attended public school in Pierce County, Subsequently completing an extensive metal welding and fabrication trade course from L.H. Bates Vocational-Technical Institute on 15 July, 1977. After Initiation into the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union on January 18th, 1978 he began a lifelong career working as a ship metal welder and repairman in the three primary Tacoma ship yards; Tacoma Boat, MINI and Martinac. A physically demanding career, often requiring work in extremely harsh conditions.  Additionally, Frank served for many years as the Union Steward, representing the safety and well-being of all his unionized coworkers.

While being more of a quiet and reserved person, Frank still had a passion for his Christian Faith, spending much of his free time reading and studying his Bible and other devotional material. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was baptized in 1985. Frank loved to spend hours discussing the details of the Bible, and expanding his knowledge of Christianity.

An avid gun collector, Frank had a wide assortment of antique and hard to find firearms, dating as far back as pre-WW2.

On the lighter side Frank enjoyed old cartoons from the 60s and 70s, and also spent many quiet hours working Word Find puzzles (of course in large print in his later years).

One of his greatest blessings was to have a mother that gave him a lifetime of care, friendship and love. Endlessly encouraging her son forward, and always helping him when he needed it the most.

Frank leaves behind his mother and four younger siblings, (one brother and three sisters), and a large number of Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life for Frankie D. Carroll will be held 1pm, July 8, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home 1215 Martin Luther King Jr. Tacoma, WA 98405
