In Loving Memory of Lauretha Byers
Our beloved Mother, Missionary Lauretha Byers, departed this world Heaven-bound on June 22, 2020. Member of New Jerusalem COGIC since 1968. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and woman of God. Missionary Byers was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jimmie and Hattie Means, husband, Minister, L.D. Byers; and two sisters, Freda Means and Onnie Daniels. Left to mourn are her sons, Edward (Sonny) and Louis David Byers, sisters, grandchildren, and family.
Homegoing services on Friday, July 10, 2020, 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem COGIC, 1623 S. 11th St., Tacoma, viewing from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. COVID 19 guidelines for in-person worship gatherings will be observed (masks, temperature scans and social distancing). Service will also be live streamed through Facebook Live: @reggiemosby and @growingupinnewj.
I offer my deepest condolences to the Byers Family. I met Missionary Byers in 1975 and I lived in Tacoma, WA for 28 years. I have a wonderful experience of seeing and hearing Missionary Byers minister from time to time. What an absolute Power House Woman of God. Needless to say, she will be greatly missed. We extend our sincerest condolences to you on the passing of a wonderful saint…Mother Byers. It was she and her husband, Elder Byers, that convinced me to “seek the Lord” back in 1969 when he and I worked at Atlas Foundry. A great woman of God. She will be missed.

My condolences to the Byers family. Mother Byers was a light in this community. She brought the fruit of the spirit alive with her words and her actions. She was recognized as a beacon and be will be remembered as a wise, most loving kind, and generous woman, who loved the Lord. Much love from the Taylor Walker family.
My heart felt condolences to the family. Thank you for sharing your mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin with us. The world is a much better place because of her presence. I am honored to have known her and to have called her my godmother. I see her smile and feel her warm calloused hands in mine when I think of her. Though my family and I will not be able to attend the services, know that my prayers and thoughts are with you. I love you all.

Mother Byers, “A Powerful Woman of God” and true friend of the Bible Way COGIC, Everett, WA; was highly esteemed by the late Superintendent Lee Young, Jr. & Lady Acie Young; and a true testimony to the entire body of Christ. She will always be cherished for her unique and profound delivery of the Word of God; a teacher who needed no explanation, and a willing vessel of the Lord. Her works have spoken for her.
