Sirrone Newbern passed away April 22, 2023.

Sirrone Mansel Arthur Newbern was born on November 9th, 1997, to Lakenya Ann Jones and Sirrone Newbern. He joined his ancestors in heaven on April 22, 2023. In addition to his parents, Sirrone is survived by his three month old son Sirrone Mecca Ali Newbern and his mother TaShawnda McCoy, his younger sister and heart Simona Newbern, Grandfather Robert Jones and Patrick Newbern; and great grandmother Rose Jones.

Sirrone was very close to his younger cousin Amin Brassell. He was beloved by his Aunts Latasha Jones, Lakeisha Jones, Kaylei Jones, Lakesha Newbern, Cassandra Newbern; Uncles Jayson Olsen, Robert Jones, Jr., Mansel Jones, Jacob Jones, Seddrick Bronner and Patrick Newbern, Jr. He shall dwell eternally in the hearts of the many family members and friends who cherished him.

Sirrone, had a smile that would light up any room that he walked into. If you needed encouragement, words of wisdom or a good laugh you could count on Sirrone! He lifted spirits even when he was going through a hard time. Sirrone loved to dance, listen to old and new school music, beat you in chess, loved sports, and he stayed dipped in stylish outfits. He was the life of the party and he loved God! He could have easily received “father of the year award,” Mecca was his world. Sirrone received his high school diploma from Peninsula College in 2017, obtained a forklift certification and he had plans to attend Pierce College for Theater. He was very intellectual. Sirrone started a mentor program entitled “Made Men,” at Greenhill School in Chehalis, WA. He and his peers articulated the needs of young black men that encountered the justice system and provided solutions. He was always evolving and working to be the best version of himself. Through. It. All. Sirrone was the epitome of resilience and optimism. Sirrone will truly be missed. We love you Buddas. This is not goodbye… this

A memorial service will be held Wednesday May 3, 2023 at 12 noon at Edward’s Temple 1107 S 21st St, Tacoma, WA 98405. A repass will be held immediately after at the Tacoma Elks.

    I worked as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor with Sirrone and I will forever miss his enthusiasm and the pure joy he had for his future. He was a mentor and a leader. He was a man made by God to do great things.
