Obituary:
William Rose Gary, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at Virginia Mason St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington. He was born on February 18, 1958, in Paducah, Kentucky to Earnest Paul Gary and Millie Lee. William’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to family and community.

A proud graduate of high school with a strong sense of duty and service to his country, William enlisted in the Army where he served honorably for 19 years. His commitment extended beyond military service; he spent over 15 years as a nursing assistant before dedicating himself to the Bellevue School District as a custodian for an impressive quarter-century. Through these roles, he touched countless lives with his kindness and work ethic.

William is survived by his loving wife Lydia Gary who stood by him through thick and thin. Together they created a warm home filled with laughter that welcomed their blended family: stepson Jomar Richard Kendrick; stepdaughters Catherine and Sam; son-in-law Viesna; grandchildren Vierine, Vincent Calvin Ella Mae Ayden JC Nolla Amara—each one cherished deeply by their grandpa.

He shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings—brothers Kieth and Huey—and sister Wella—as well as nephew Shawn and niece Kelly who will forever hold dear memories of their time together.

Known for his love of cooking delicious meals that brought family together around the table or during camping trips under starlit skies—the joy found in those moments defined William’s spirit. He had an extraordinary ability to create warmth wherever he went—a true testament to how much he valued gathering loved ones close.

Friends are invited to celebrate William’s remarkable life at Scott Funeral Home located at 1215 M.L.K Jr Way Tacoma WA on Friday March 7th from 11 AM for memorial services honoring this incredible man whose legacy will live on through all who knew him.
