A Life Remembered
Dr. Archie Luck Jr. departed his life on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 9:22 AM at his home in Spanaway, WA. Dr. Luck’s parents, Archie Luck Sr, was a carpenter, Mary Eliza Mayo, a domestic helper, were married in Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Luck’s parents and grandparents preceded him in death in VA.
Dr. Luck gave his life to the Lord in his 20’s and attended Pilgrim Baptist Church of VA, where he served under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Reginald Johnson. He was ordained as a deacon and taught Sunday School. In 1975 Dr. Luck relocated to Tacoma, WA, and established his brick masonry business.
Dr. Luck joined Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. E.S. Brazil and was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 2001. Dr. Luck retired from the Pierce County Jail, working as a Chaplain, retired from the Tacoma School District, and Bates Technical College.
Dr. Luck received numerous accolades during his life time. Some of the awards received: Theological Veteran’s Award from seminary, Teaching Certificates, WA Chaplain, Certificate of Appreciation from Tacoma Rescue Mission.
Dr. Luck graduated from Jackson P. Burley High in VA, playing varsity football and basketball. Dr. Luck joined the Air Force was discharged in Nebraska (1967). Dr. Luck graduated from Bishop A.L. Hardy Academy of Theology with two doctorate degrees, D.Min and Th.D (1996/1997), and began teaching at the seminary. Dr. Luck met and married the love of his life, Dr. Veronica Luck while attending seminary in 2007. Both Dr. Luck’s worked together as seminary Professors, prison Chaplains, marriage ministry, and Celebrate Recovery.
Dr. Luck leaves to mourn his wife Dr. Veronica Luck. Children Michael S. Luck (OH), Scherrie and Peter Mubiru (WA), Ebonee and Isaac Anderson (WA). Grandchildren are Shamari Perry (WA), Naiomi Little (WA), Ezra Anderson (WA), and Kenya Anderson (WA). One aunt Sarah Acthison (NY). Siblings Arletta James (NY), Janine and James Gaines (VA), Sterling Luck (deceased), Mattie and Donald Hall (VA), and Martin Luck (VA).
Nieces and nephews: Ramona and Shane Price (VA), Marquinta and Michael Bell (MD), Ronald Luck, Cartlon Luck, Martin Luck Jr, Christopher and Martrina James (NY).
