Gwendolyn Denise Hughes
Gwendolyn Denise Hughes was a phenomenal mother, nana, daughter, sister & friend to many. Although, for us, way too soon, the Lord called her home on the morning of Friday, April 7th. Waiting to welcome her is her mother, father, brother & grandson.
Gwendolyn was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on September 7, 1957, to Esselene and Robert Hughes. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson high school, she married and flew off to Germany to begin her new life. She became a mother in Germany, her true calling. We’re often judged, first and foremost, by our career choices and work accomplishments. Gwen worked hard in her jobs and always challenged herself. She had immense energy and was an example, to us, of confidence, courage, and strength. She was our solid foundation and a true epitome of love!
Her love will be remembered by her only child: Sequilla Sims, Five grandchildren: Khyla Washington, Shawn Chandler, De’Layah Sims, Dai’jaSims & Huie Sims ll. Three great grandchildren: Juelz Bird, Kyier Chandler & Jrue Bird. Four siblings: Andy Hughes, Chris Hughes, Valerie Hughes & Samantha Morrow and her sister-in-law, Pastor Janice Hughes, as well as many friends that turned to family. We are honored by all who loved and experienced her light!
“If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.”
