Obituary

Ja’Pree De’Shawn Marcus, the youngest son of Kenyetta Oatis and Elisha Marcus, was born December 14, 2004. Ja’Pree was tragically taken from us on July 31st, 2024. He was just 19. Ja’Pree was a happy baby and would whine a lot,  I think, because he knew he was the youngest.  He had a way about getting anything he wanted as a kid and as a young man.  He was not afraid to ask for what he wanted. Ja’Pree attended Christensen Elementary School from 1st to 5th grade. Ja’Pree later attended Keithley Middle School from 6th to 8th grade. Ja’Pree was a  talented, playful,              kind-hearted, loving person who loved his family. He loved to scare you or just joke around.  Ja’Pree bonded with his older brothers over football and played youth football for the Tacoma Panthers for 6 years.  Ja’Pree attended Washington High School but later transferred to Gates High School. You would often find Ja’Pree hanging with his brothers, cousins, and best friend Tofili playing video games and making music    together.  Ja’Pree loved his family and those who loved him. Ja’Pree had a little rough patch in his life and struggled on what direction he wanted his life to go.  It wasn’t until he got to be a senior in high school  that his outlook on life changed.  He was determined to be different and really      focused on school.  Ja’Pree graduated with honors and was chosen to give a speech at graduation.  Graduating gave Ja’Pree an even clearer vision on what direction he wanted to go. Ja’Pree then met his girlfriend Faith Gordon. He really loved her. He was even more focused on changing and       becoming a better brother, cousin, uncle, and friend to those he loved. Ja’Pree loved to cook, and we would often share recipes. He just wanted more, so he decided to join the union and passed his apprenticeship with an 88 out of 100. He was so proud, and so were we.  He said mom give me 2 years and you won’t have to worry about anything. If only you had a   little more time, but God needed you more. We love you and will not let what you were trying to do or trying to become go in vain. Ja’Pree is survived by his mother Kenyetta his father Elisha. Brothers Anthony, Elisha, Ja’Quez, Jasiah Ja’Lijah, Treyshawn. Sisters Krystalanii, Maliyah, step sister Cona’e. Grandmother: Roberta. Aunts Tomeka, Lekitah.   Uncles Tony, Cedric, Tracy, Jerrell. Nephews Jayloni and  Elisha Marcus 3rd. Nieces Na’Leiah, Journe, Saniah and a host of cousins, family and friends.  Fly high with your sister Saniah Marcus,  grandma and your grandpas.
