Diaba A. Kasimu Xokara, fka Robert Edward Lawrence Carhee, 73 passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma WA on June 28, 2020.
Diaba was born on January 22, 1947 as Robert Edward Lawrence Carhee to Rev. Clarence Leon Carhee (Los Angeles, CA) and Raychelle Lynom Carhee (Memphis, TN). Diaba is the firstborn of three sons.
Diaba’s formative years were spent in Washington, D.C., Memphis, TN., and Seattle, WA. In 1961 he attended Howe Military School in Indiana and was recognized in the July 1961 issue of Jet Magazine. This was an early sign of his brilliance. He graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle, WA. He joined the Marine Reserves in 1964. He graduated from Seattle University with a Masters Degree in Economics and went on to the University of Denver, obtaining a second Masters in International Studies and was preparing for his PHD.
His favorite things to do included music, writing, poetry, and tennis.
Diaba is survived by his three children, daughter Kimberly Carhee; daughter Keturah Carhee; son Khalil Carhee; and granddaughter Kyla Carhee. Brothers Clarence Leon Carhee, Jr. and children, and Winston Kyle Carhee (Dolores) and children.
Diaba has a host of cousins and dear friends that will cherish his life and legacy.

Very sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. It’s been decades. He was always good to me and I will remember him fondly. My thoughts to the family.
