His Journey
Demetrius Marquis “Golddie” Bibb was born on August 14, 1984 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to Tangelia Preston Bibb and Gregory Demetrius Nails. If you know him, you know of the funny stories he shared of being a Grady Baby and stealing Dorethea’s (his cousin’s) dimple at birth and of his youngest son being born on her birthday. He was educated through the DeKalb County and Kent School Districts graduating from Kentwood High School in Kent, WA in 2002. During his 37 years he was a devoted hands on father and uncle. He met and became a friend to many. He wore a big, beautiful, welcoming smile that drew people to him. He always had a funny story if you had time to listen. Because of his southern mannerism, style and gold grill, Demetrius stood out here in the Pacific Northwest taking on the name Golddie Gold. Many have expressed the kind and generous  gestures he gave during their time of need. He never said a word. Demetrius did what God expects us all to do. He treated all people the way he wanted to be treated. You had a genuine friend in him. To know him was to truly love him. He had a love for God, his folks (family), children, people, grilling, horses, old school and his dogs Princess, Capone and Big Boy. The inseparable bond and love he and his sister, Akiba, shared would last up until the very end. Golddie’s grilled chicken was always a crowd pleaser and he kept his spices hidden, especially from Akiba. He said those spices is what keeps her coming back here. He often had cook-offs with the guys from gumbo, chili to bbq. He was great with his hands.
Demetrius was a barber, artist, carpenter, fix-it man and at-home studio provider for up and coming rappers and more. He wanted everyone to be happy and always said so. Demetrius is preceded in death by grandparents, Mildred Perrimon Preston, Grady Preston, and Lois Thomas Nails; uncle, Norman Wayne Preston; aunt, Barbara Nails Payne and his loyal dogs Princess and Capone. He leaves to cherish his memories a caring and devoted partner Tandy Disque; children, Marquis Santiago Bibb, Mya Ashanti Bibb, Aria Nya Disque and Demetrius Marquis King Perrimon Preston; his loving mother, Tangelia Preston Bibb; father, Gregory Demetrius Nails (Atlanta, GA); sisters, Akiba Bibb, Calysia Nails (Atlanta, GA) and Brandy Nails (CA); brothers, Jabari (Jeneka) Matthews (Mansfield TX), Gregory Nails (Atlanta, GA); aunts, Quincy Preston-Clark (Atlanta GA), Rachelle (Richard) Ishmon (Mount Juliet, TN), Tara Thompson (Atlanta, GA); uncle, John Nails (Atlanta, GA); godmother, Sandra Ware (Cleveland Heights, OH); nephews, Kamauri, Kashton, Kierson, Draylon, Jacob and Grayson; nieces, Ashia and Jaelle.
