Dillard was born on May 15th, 1944 in Dallas, Texas to the parents of Lela and Claude Henry. Dillard was cared for by his loving family were he could rest in his home during this difficult time. Dillard passed away peacefully while he slept in his home on October 1st 2019 in Tacoma, Washington  surrounded by the love and comfort of his significant other Evelyn Fields.
Dillard joined the Church of God in Christ in 1978 with his mother. He graduated from Junior Frazier High School in Dallas Texas, and went on to take a trade in construction in Dallas among other jobs.  Dillard Retired as a longshoreman at the port of Seattle after 19 years of committed service.
Dillard met the mothers of his children, and went on to have many wonderful children. Evelyn  the mother of three of his children Dillard Jr. Twins: Lela and Claude . Kim the mother of Deanna Henry. Linda the mother of Tameka, Dillard, and Anthony Freeney. Ollie Mae the mother of Dillard Briggs, and Kay the mother of Vanessa. He also raised two step daughters Enjolei Nicole shields and Gina       Dyson. As you can see Dillard had lots of love to share. Dillard loved all of his Family especially his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and experienced great joy when he spent time with them.
Dillard was a husband, a father, a friend and sometimes something else to many. Many men long to grow up to be just like him. Dillard was debonair, and had a swagger that everyone wanted to       follow. When he walked into a room he shinned, with his smile and swagger. Dillard loved sports, and would watch sports ALL DAY! He also loved dogs almost as much as his family. When we remember Dillard, we can think of someone who has lived a good life, loved his family, cousins and had many close friends. Dillard will be missed and never forgotten. We all loved Dillard!
Dillard is  survived by his mother: Lela Mae Edwards, His sitter Alma Jean Johnson, his love Evelyn Fields, loving children: Dillard D. Henry Jr., Lela Denise Giordano and her husband  Michael Giordano II, Claude Andrew Henry, Deanna Michelle Henry, Dillard Freeney, Tameka Freeney, Anthony Freeney, VernonFreeney, Dillard Briggs, Vanessa Henry. and his two Step children Enjoele Shields, and Gina Dyson. Grandchildren: Michael Giordano III, Claude Henry, Chanel Henry, great grandchildren, nephews, many cousins and close friends.
Dillard was preceded in death by his father: Claude Henry, his brother Raymond Earl Henry, his sisters Mary Lee Blake, Ada Mae Henderson, Claudia Ruth Ayres, his uncles: Ozell Jones, Carnell Jones, Bill Jones, his auntie: Rita Jackson, his granddaughter: Evelyn Giordano , Tameka’s daughter, his nephew Micheal Wayne Henderson and Roy Lee Johnson.
Dillard leaves to cherish his memories: his Mother, Lela Edwards; sister, Alma Jean Johnson;  Evelyn, children, nephews, many cousins, grandchildren, family and friends.
