Dorothy Marie Vita
Dorothy Marie Vita was born January 11, 1959, in Daytona Beach, FL, to Reverend Albert and Mattie Pearl Walker. She was the youngest of nine siblings. She was a member of Mount Calvary Independent Holiness church where her father was the pastor. She attended Mainland Senior High School and graduated in 1977. Marie as she is known by her family was a gospel singer and participated in many beauty pageants. She won Miss Daytona at the age of 20 years old after placing second in the Miss Models Unlimited Contest in 1978. She attended Daytona Beach Community College and received her certificate in Machine Shorthand. She met and fell in love with Paul Thomas Vita & from their union three children were born. Thomas, Anthony, and Eric. In 1983 the family moved to Tacoma, WA. She worked as a business manager for years. Marie started attending Miles Memorial CME under the leadership of Pastor Carolyn Thomas where she remained until her death. Marie was a faithful missionary, usher, and children’s Sunday school teacher and was promoted to stewardess of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Marie loved creating things for children, word searches and puzzles, homemade decorations, and traveling many places with her sister, Linder. Marie had a very giving heart and would help anyone she could. Marie is loved by her family and friends and will be truly missed. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Albert & Mattie Pearl Walker, brother, Albert Walker Jr., sister, Minnie Tolbert, sister, Pearl (Doll) Walker-Green, niece, Yolanda Smith, and son Anthony Walker. She is survived by her husband, Paul Thomas, son Thomas (Jessica) & Eric Vita, and her grandchildren (Thomas Jr., Christian, Anthony, Lyric, Treyshawn, Skylar, Ariona, Julian, Elilah, and Isabella), sisters, Dr. Linder Walker-Robinson, Susie Walker-Perry (Rance), Shirley Walker-Williams (Don), Clentine Hicks, brothers, Reverend Henry Walker (Mary), and Johnny Walker. She also leaves behind her godmother, Mother Matthews, her close cousin, Earnestine Brown, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Final resting place will be at Calvary Cemetery located at 6930 52nd Ave W, University Place, WA 98467. Please join the family for the repast at Miles Memorial CME 1601 S L Street, Tacoma, WA 98405
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday March 5th at Miles Memorial C.M.E Methodist church 1601 S L Street, Tacoma, WA 98405
