A Beautiful Legacy

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. On October 20, 2020, Mother Deloris departed from this earth, to her heavenly home to receive her glorious crown.

II Timothy 4:7-8I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them also that have love His appearing.

Mother Deloris Cody was born to Reverend John W. Cody and Mother Christine Cody in Clearwater, Oklahoma and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1978 she moved to Washington state with her three children Veronica, Derrick, and Damon Williams. After graduating Crown Beauty College Mother Deloris opened her own beauty salon Hairworks Unlimited in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood that ran for about 15 years. Mother Deloris was known for her love for the Lord from a young age. In her stride to live as the Bible commands, she joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Melvin Cain and Reverend Larry Thomas in 1990 until 2005. She joined Living Word Christian Church, under the leadership of Pastor Michael A. Purter. At Living Word Christian church, she found a true connection with her church family and Jesus. Mother Deloris church activities included being a faithful member for the Women Ministry, member of the Adult Choir, Fifth Mother of the Church. Mother Deloris was also a foster parent to many children who needed a home and would not only give a home she would also love and teach the children about the Lord. Mother Deloris loved life and lived it to the fullest. She is survived by her Daughter Veronica Williams, Grandchildren: Shawnta’ Williams (Tacoma, WA), Shalea Florence (Yelm, WA), Shane’a McChristian (Tacoma, WA), Derrick J, Johnson (Tacoma, WA), Nyaria Lee (Tacoma, WA), Shvwanna Williams (Virginia), Ambouree Hughes (Dothan, Alabama), Foster Daughter Trina Thornton, and 15 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Mother Deloris will join her Father, Mother and Sister Connie Mae Mays, both sons Derrick and Damon Williams, and great grandson Derrick Johnson in Glory. She will be greatly missed and forever Loved.
