Obituary

Pastor Reginald Dean Rushin, 59, of Tacoma on Wednesday October 27, 2021 passed from this life to eternal life. He was born in Houston, TX, the youngest child of the late Henry Lee Rushin and the late Hazel Nash. He was educated in the Houston Independent School District graduating from Jessie H. Jones High School. He went on to attend Texas Tech University and earned his BA degree from Evergreen State College Tacoma, WA. Pastor Rushin served in the United States Army after completion he join the National Guard Task Force. Pastor Rushin was employed by Seattle and Tacoma Public Schools also Tacoma Community College. Being a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan, Pastor Rushin was an active coach for numerous girls and boys basketball and football middle and high schools teams in the Tacoma and Seattle School District. He also coached while serving the United States Army.

Pastor Rushin accepted his call in the ministry under the Late Pastor Charlie S. Price at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Tacoma, WA. He was ordained in 2016. He was trained and faithfully served in the Young Adult choir, Brotherhood and directed the Youth Choir. His Spiritual teaching was Sunday School, Bible Study and BTU. He also assisted with the Mt. Sinai Drill team. Pastor Rushin was a member of the Puget Sound Association. In 2018 the faithful church body of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church elected Pastor Rushin to lead the body of Christ as their Pastor. He loved serving in the capacity of Pastor which he did faithfully and gracefully until his journey in this life peacefully entered into rest.

Pastor Rushin loved his son and grandchildren and his church family. His hobbies in life was playing sports, eating, telling jokes and traveling back home to Houston, TX and Atlanta, Ga., spending time with his family and friends.

Pastor Reginald Rushin was preceded in death by his father Henry Rushin and Mother Hazel Nash. He leaves to cherish his memory: Son Ashley Rushin, Tacoma, WA; 3 Sisters: Shirley Buckner Rector, Wrendolyn Lehman (both from Houston, Texas) Deborah Jean Williams (Jacksonville, Fl.); 3 Brothers: Michael Williams, Eric Rushin, Tony Rushin (all from Tacoma, WA.).; 2 Grandchildren: Maya and Jackson Rushin (Tacoma, WA.); 2 God-Daughters: Amber Allen (Ari, Jeremiah), April Clayton (all from Tacoma, WA.); A very special dear and loyal friend close to his heart Joyce Price (Tacoma, WA.); Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Family, A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousin and dear friends.

Funeral 11am Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church 1211 S I St, Tacoma, WA 98405
