Obituary

March 12^th, 2018 an Angel was born to Shafka Gurley and Otis Tate Jr. A fighter from the womb, Imani was born with a Congenital Heart Defect and not expected to live very long from the beginning. Enduring two open heart surgeries before the age of 2, and numerous other procedures thereafter.  It is not a secret that her life was not easy, but through all the sickness and pain she always had a smile on her face. Our warrior princess fought even with one functioning lung, due to medical mishap during surgery.  Imani loved to sing, dance, as well as experiment with different instruments. Imani brought joy to all who came in contact with her, inside and outside of the hospital. Imani was a true example of not looking like what you been through, she was so full of life, and a lot of times wowed her doctors because how she read on paper looks totally different than how she presented in person. Imani is survived by her parents Shafika, and Otis, her brothers Otis III, Mikhai, and Gabriel, Aunts Jennifer, Bonita, Brandy, Kaila and Alicia. Great Aunts Dorcas, Brenda, Samuella, Kristen and Michelle. Uncles Eddie, Mikkos, Bill, and Great Uncles Nimrod, Andre and William. Grandmother Liz, and Great Grandmothers Lacie and Dorothy. Grandfathers George and Otis Sr. and Niece Reagaen. Cousins Andre, Dennicia, Walter, DJ, and Montrell. Proceeded in death by Grandmother Renae, Great Grandmother Addie and a host of other family members too many to name.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank every medical professional, and everyone that has prayed, donated, gifted, and supported our family in any way. We love you all and may God bless you all.
