Obituary
Damon L. Hill
(also fondly known as Turtle)
Sunrise 1974 Sunset 2022
A “lighter” has flickered off forever and our lives will never be the same. Damon, our beloved son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, grandfather, and friend passed away suddenly on July 28, 2022 due to complications related to a heart condition.
Damon was a lifelong resident of Lakewood/Tacoma where he attended Dower Elementary, Lochburn Jr. High, and Clover Park High School. He also attended Clover Park Technical College for their Telecommunications program. Damon played baseball on several community youth teams but really found his sports passion in football where he played for Lochburn, Clover Park HS and the Lakewood Lumberjacks. Damon was also active in youth activities at Allen AME Church where he sang in the choir, ushered, and participated in Young Peoples Department (YPD) activities.
Damon was currently employed at Tai Chen where he worked in various warehouse positions, of course making new friends along the way. He enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, camping/fishing, and of course trying his luck at the casinos.
Although his friends were many, his focus always stayed on his children. He was the proud father of Destinie (Tara/Theresa), Alex (Cindy), Elaina and Elijah (Melissa) but also had the opportunity to have a “dad’s role” with Dylon, KJ, and Raelynn (Tanja). Damon loved his family and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them.
He leaves behind is mom Carol Hill-McCleary, father Kenneth Hill, children as listed above, sister Shauna Martin, his precious grandkids Ma’Laysia and Messiah and numerous nephews, cousins and extended family.
He touched a lot of lives over his 47 years and was a friend to everyone he met. As he leaves us broken hearted, we know he is in a better place.
Rest in Peace my baby Day Day – until we meet again.
Visitation services for Damon Lamar Hill will be held Monday, August 8, 2022, 4pm-7pm.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 1pm at Allen AME 1223 Martin Luther King Jr Way Tacoma, WA 98405. **MASKS ARE REQUIRED**
