Lavada Faye Dillingham was born April 29, 1953, to Charles Mason and Izetta Jenkins at Madigan Hospital. At an early age her mother, Izetta, married Fletcher Jenkins who nurtured and raised Lavada. He was her dad. She attended McCarver Elementary, Stadium High School, and Fort Steilacoom College, now known as Pierce College. She was known in the community as a Kidney Dialysis Tech. She also worked in retail until her health deteriorated and she could no longer work.
Lavada was married to McKinley Dillingham who preceded her in death. She held a special place in her heart for those she cherished especially her children; Julian, Izetta, Jason and Bubba. She believed in her family and can always be heard saying “God has been good to us.” She always made sure they were straight.
Lavada was an amazing cook. She was known for her lasagna which was always in demand. She had a passion for knitting, crocheting, listening to gospel music and she loved jewelry.
Lavada was a very giving, compassionate, loving and caring person. If you brought a problem to her, she tried her best to fix it. She would lend a helping hand to whomever she could.
Lavada was a great woman of prayer and faith. She was a praying woman who loved the Lord and believed in the power of prayer. She would always encourage others by reminding them how “good God has been.” She started her relationship with the Lord at Edwards Temple under the leadership of Bishop Robert Edwards and afterwards Superintendent Joseph Edwards. She sang in the choir and served as an usher.
Lavada was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Dillingham, mother Izetta Jenkins; and a sister, Solonia Henix.
