Sean Jeffrey Evans obituary

Sean Jeffrey Evans was born to Ms. Flora Jean Joyner and Mr. Joseph Evans, September 6, 1973 in Seattle, WA. Loving guidance from his mother and a village of family and friends created in Sean an openly loving nature, a thirst for knowledge and understanding, and a personality that filled every room he entered.

After being raised in Seattle and graduating from Garfield High School, Sean attended Seattle Central College and later the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then moved to Atlanta, GA. where he lived it up for nearly 10 years. After returning to Washington, Sean found his calling working with children, first as a youth football coach and later as a children’s ministry volunteer and leader, therapeutic group home counselor, basketball official, paraeducator, and eventually high school football coach. At the time the Lord called him home, Sean was a beloved Paraeducator at Harrison Preparatory School, worked at a group home for boys, was an assistant football coach at Clover Park High School, and was gearing up for another season officiating basketball games in the Tacoma and Seattle areas.

Sean married the former Regina Williams in August 2018. He was an impeccable husband and the love of Regina’s life. Sean and Regina were members of Urban Grace church in Tacoma, where they taught Sunday School. Sean was a sports fanatic and an enthusiastic supporter of the Seattle Seahawks, the University of Washington and many other college football teams, the University of North Carolina men’s basketball team, and many women’s college basketball teams.

Sean passed away October 18, 2021 after a vicious fight to recover from a heart attack. He was predeceased by his parents, Flora Jean Joyner and Joseph Evans, cousin/best friend, Mckala Copeland Black, and several other loved ones.

Sean is survived by his wife, Regina Evans, daughter, Jacquie Curtis and grandson, Mykel Hopkins, step-daughter, Victoria Owens, sisters Keisha Joyner, Joselyn Evans, Ingrid Turner, Kimberly Harden, and Tai Harden-Moore and many nieces and nephews, as well as an abundance of extended family members and friends. He was a light and a blessing to all who knew him and is profoundly missed.

Final Visitation will be held Friday November 5, 2021, 5-8pm at Scott Funeral Home, 1215 MLK Jr Way in Tacoma WA.
